Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

. After inhalation:
Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of complaints.
. After skin contact:
Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.
If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor.
. After eye contact:
Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms
persist, consult a doctor.
. After swallowing:
If symptoms persist consult doctor.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing agents :
CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fire with alcohol resistant
foam.
. For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents :
Water with full jet
. Special hazards, products of combustion, released gases :
In case of fire, the following can be released:
Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide
. Special protective equipment :
Mouth respiratory protective device.
Wear protective clothing.
. Additional information :
Cool endangered receptacles with water spray.

Accidental release measures

Accidental release measures
. Person-related safety precautions:
Particular danger of slipping on leaked/spilled product.
See Section 8 for information on personal protection equipment.
. Measures for environmental protection:
Do not allow product to reach sewage system or any water course.
Keep contaminated washing water and dispose of appropriately.
. Measures for cleaning/collecting:
Pick up mechanically.
Send for recovery or disposal in suitable receptacles.
Clean the affected area carefully; suitable cleaners are:
Warm water
Warm water and cleansing agent
. Additional information:
See Section 13 for disposal information.

Handling and storage

. Handling:
. Information for safe handling:
See Section 8 for information on personal protection equipment.
. Storage:
. Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles:
Protect from heat and direct sunlight.
Keep receptacle tightly sealed.
Use polyolefine receptacles (made out of plastic).
. Recommended storage temperature:
< 40°C

Exposure controls / personal protection

. Additional information about design of technical facilities:
Eye wash facility and security showers nearby.
. DNELs
ACUTE TOXICITY = Not required or not applicable.
IRRITATION/CORROSIVITY = Not applicable.
SENSITISATION = Not applicable.
LONG-TERM - SYSTEMIC EFFECTS:
- Repeated dose toxicity: sub-acute:
. Oral = not applicable.
. Dermal = 3.33 mg/kg/day (extrapolated from oral route).
. Inhalation = 23.5 mg/m3 (extrapolated from oral route).
- Mutagenicity = not applicable and useless.
- Carcinogenicity = not applicable and useless.
- Reproductive toxicity fertility impairment:
. oral = not applicable.
. dermal = 1.11 mg/kg/day (extrapolated from oral route).
. inhalation = 7.84 mg/m3 (extrapolated from oral route).
- Reproductive toxicity developmental tox:
. Oral = not applicable.
. Dermal = 3.33 mg/kg/day (extrapolated from oral route).
. Inhalation = 23.5 mg/m3 (extrapolated from oral route).
. PNECs
- aqua - fresh water = 0,1 mg/l
- aqua - marine water = 1 mg/l
- sediment = 927 mg/kg
- soil = not required, because the substance is readily biodegradable.
- atmosphere = not required, because the substance is readily biod.
- sewage treatment systems = no respiration tests are available,
because the substance is readily biodegradable.
. Personal protective equipment:
. General protective and hygienic measures:
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.
Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.
Storing food in the working area is prohibited.
Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed.
Do not eat, drink or smoke while working.
. Protection of hands:
Protective gloves
. Material of gloves
The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the
material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from
manufacturer to manufacturer.
. Penetration time of glove material
The exact break trough time has to be found out by the manufacturer of
the protective gloves and has to be observed.
. Eye protection:
Safety glasses
. Body protection:
Use protective suit.
. Risk management measures
The following risk management measures are those implemented as a
standard in SEPPIC facilities. Although they are applied, they are not
actually mandatory for this particular substance. Indeed the substance
is devoid of significant hazard properties as demonstrated along the
Chemical Safety Report, so that exposure and risk assessments are not
required.
Risk management measures and operational conditions related to human
Exposure: The synthesis takes place in a closed system. Potential
exposure is limited to the solid substance during selected tasks
occurring in an open system (such as sampling). There is no exposure
to a powder or an aerosol and the type of exposure is non-dispersive.
Personal protective equipment includes gloves, safety glasses and
protective clothing.

Risk management measures and operational conditions related to
environmental exposure: The synthesis occurs in a closed system.
Solid wastes are incinerated in dedicated incineration centres.
In case of accidental release, wastewater is collected and send in
SEPPIC's on-site sewage treatment plants. The resulting treated
wastewater is directed to public sewage treatment plants.

Product not classified as dangerous.
Exposure scenarios are not required.

Stability and reactivity

. Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:
Stable at environment temperature.
. Dangerous decomposition products:
Carbon monoxide
. Additional information:
Stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation
products: not determined.

Disposal considerations

. Product:
. Recommendation:
Disposal must be made according to official regulations.
. Uncleaned packaging:
. Recommendation:
Disposal must be made according to official regulations.
Packagings that may not be cleansed are to be disposed of in the same
manner as the product.
