Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Chronic toxicity on the reproduction of Daphnia magna was investigated using a semi-static 21-d toxicity test in accordance with OECD TG 211 and GLP. Daphnids were exposed to aqueous solutions of the test item at the required nominal test concentrations 0.06, 0.13, 0.27, 0.57 and 1.20 mg/l, and to an untreated control for a total period of 21 days in closed vessels. Each treatment group consisted of 10 replicates each of one Daphnia magna (one daphnia per replicate). The test media was renewed three times a week and the daphnids were fed five days a week. Effects on reproductive performance were investigated by counting the living offspring produced by each parent animal. Mortality among the parent animals was also recorded. At the end of the test the length of the adults was measured by microscopy. The concentrations of the test item were determined by chemical analyses three times a week at renewal of the test media. Results: The test concentrations decreased more than 20% and therefore the exposure concentrations were expressed in terms of time-weighted mean concentrations: 0.04, 0.09, 0.17, 0.37 and 0.80 mg/l. The LC10 for mortality was the most sensitive parameter and was 0.231 mg/l; the EC10 for reproduction, cumulative number of offspring per introduced parent was 0.381 mg/l.
