Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Supply fresh air. If patient has difficulty in breathing,

administer oxygen, keep him calm and protect him from loss

of warmth. Seek medical advice immediately.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Open the eyelids and rinse for an adequate length of time

with water. Consult an eye specialist immediately.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove patients from danger zone.

Remove contaminated or soaked clothing (including underwear

and shoes) immdediately. Also heed the risks to your own person.

Wash skin immediately with plenty of

water and soap. Apply calcium gluconate gel to the affected area, rub in until locally free of pain and then continue

for further 15 minutes. If skin reactions occur, contact a

physician.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: At once make patient drink copious amounts of water, if possilble milk, in sips. The mouth should be rinsed out

several times. Do not induce vomiting. Medical treatment is

required as soon  as possible.

Information for the physician:

Therapeutic measures: Basic aid, decontamination, symtomatic

treatment. Treat with a corticoid metered aerosol depending

on the amount inhaled.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Extinguishing media: water mist, foam, dry powder, carbon

dioxide - never use direct water jet.

Product arising from burning: Thermal decomposition: no thermal decomposition when stored and handled correctly.

Hazardous decomposition products: No hazardous decomposition

products when stored and handled correctly. Formation of

carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, phosphorous pentoxide, tributylphosphine,

tributylphosphine oxide in the event of fire or during

thermal decomposition.

Protective equipment: During fire-fighting respirator with independent air-supply

and airtight garment is required. Containers at risk from

fire should be cooled with water and, if possible, removed from danger area. When extinguishing with water pay attention to caustic burns. Do not let enter contaminated extinguishing water into soil, groundwater or surface

waters.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Take up mechanically, having either surrounded and/or

absorbed the substance with absorbent material, e.g. sawdust or sand. Fill into labelled , sealable containers. Remove

sources of fire, ensure adequate ventilation/exhaust

ventilation. Keep unauthorised persons away. Do not allow to

enter into surface waters or groundwater. Avoid any contact

with product. Use the necessary personal equipment when handling.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Working procedures should be arranged in such a way that

employees are exposed as little as possible to the effects

of the product.

Make sure all pipelines, tanks and equipment are leakproof.

Ensure effective ventilation. Vent waste air only via

suitable separators or scrubbers.

Do not allow to escape into waters, wastewater or soil.

Storage:

Store sealed in original container in a cool, dry place.

Protect from sunlight.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Keep

away from/remove sources of ignition. Ventilation systems

must be installed.

Store in steel-drums, 50 to 200 l.

Special provisions / remarks
Remarks:
Transport code: UN-Nr. 3265
Further Transport codes: class 8, packaging group III.

The producer uses packaging for the product, which meets the requirements for products with a hazard potential as far as tightness and stability areconcerned. Consequently, transport is possible without increased danger as long as attention is paid to the usual measures such as stack height, protection against falling and correct labelling. In the case of partially fractured containers, these must be kept closed carefully on any transport, in order to prevent spillage.

Additional info: slightly corrosive, keep separated from foodstuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Respiratory protection: Combination filter against organic  vapours and particles, e.g. DIN 3181 ABEK. At substantial  vapour concentration respirator with independent supply must be used.

Eye protection: Goggles.

Hand protection: Gloves of Baypren, Viton or PVC.

Other protective equipment: Impervious protective clothing.

In special cases additional measures for personal protection may be necessary, e.g. wearing protective hood, chemical-resistant gloves or boots, and chemical-resistant suit with or without independent air supply.

Careful attention to industrial and personal hygiene is  essential. Contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of vapours must be avoided. Keep away  from foodstuffs, drinks and tobacco. Wash hands before breaks and at end of work.  Keep working clothes separate. If the suit becomes contaminated, frist take a shower with the suit on, then scrub the skin thoroughly with water.  Remove contaminated or soaked clothing (including underwear and shoes) immediately.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: No hazardous reaction when used as

directed.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Keep away from sources of ignition.

Chemical reaction with water: No hazardous reaction expected when used as directed.

Dust explosion: Liquid product.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance itself will be totally consumed during

processing.

Uncleaned empty containers should be packaged, sealed,

labelled, and disposed of or recycled according to relevant

national and local regulations. Where large quantities are concerned, consult the supplier.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Just controlled incineration recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Code: 663

Incineration at high temperatures - long-term incineration

with flue gas scrubber system, minimum temperature 1200 °C,

minimum period 2 seconds, surplus of oxygen.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not occur in public at large.
