Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If symptomatic, move to fresh air. Treat symptomatically.
Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Any material that is in the eye should be washed out
immediately with water. Get medical attention if symptoms
occur.
Emergency measure - Skin: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of
soap and water. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink 1-2 glasses of water. Seek medical attention. Never
give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use appropriate medium for adjacent fire.

Product arising from burning: Oxides of nitrogen, oxides of sulphur

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable
respiratory equipment. Respirator type: N95 Particulate
Filter. Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles).
For operations where prolonged or repeated skin contact
may occur, impervious gloves should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect up and put in a suitable container. Avoid generation
of dust. Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual
contamination.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid prolonged or repeated breathing of dust. Avoid
contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact with
skin. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after
handling.

Storage: Cool conditions (5-30 C). Keep container closed.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be imported as an approximately 10%
component of a slurry in poly lined drums. (5 gallon/13kg
slurry or possibly 55 gallon/180 kg slurry)

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Powdered material may form explosive dust-air mixtures.
Elevated temperatures can cause violent decomposition. Risk
of explosion if heated under confinement.

Chemical reaction with water: Experience in use and structure activity relationships
indicate that the test substance is not hazardous in contact
with water or humid air.

Dust explosion: There are no data or experience indicating this substance
presents a dust explosion hazard. Fines of this substance,
like those of many organic dusts, may be capable of forming
explosible dust clouds in air. Minimize dust generation and
accumulation. Keep away from sources of ignition. Use
adequate ventilation.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not practical to neutralize the substance

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: A temperature of 1000 degrees C is expected to be sufficient
to destroy the substance. Combustion will produce oxides
of nitrogen and oxides of sulphur.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Based on the log Kow value of 3.0, and an estimated log H
(Henry's Law constant) of -6.52, and the biodegradation test
results (not readily biodegradable), the SIMPLETREAT Model
predicts <7% will be removed during waste water treatment.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance.
