Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If inhaled moved to fresh air. If not breathing give
artificial respiration. Consult a physician.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes thoroughly with running water (approximately 15
minutes) and consult a physician if any symptoms persist.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water and soap.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Only as long as the patient is fully conscious: wash mouth
and have the victim drink copious amounts of water (often
vomiting will be induced). Consult a physician if feeling
sick and show the label.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, CO2, foam, sand

Product arising from burning: Carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides

Protective equipment: wear self contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: In the event of spillage, the solid material will be dry
collected and incinerated. The subsequent water washings
are isolated, analysed and treated in the waste treatment
unit or incinerated depending on concentration.

Liquid spillages would be isolated in spill basin and
incinerated or treated depending on volume and
concentration.

Handling and storage

Handling: Minimum PPE as specified in Novartis Handling Recommendation
Sheet.

Open System Respiratory protection : Disposable fine dust
protection mask (EN149)

Eye protection : Safety glasses according to EN166

Hand protection : chemical-resistant gloves, normal length
(EN374/EN388)

Others : working clothes (EN 340)

Storage: The enclosed substance, suitably labeled, will be stored
under cover in a warehouse unit at ambient temperature until
required for use in the production building. Only the
required amount for one batch will be transferred to the
production building at any one time.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The solid will be delivered in fiberboard drums, 200l
capacity, with inner polyethylene liners containing, 30kg
product.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Since it is envisaged that almost all of the notifiable
substance will be consumed in the process, recovery is not
applicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not anticipated that this will apply. Any unwanted
material would be incinerated in the site licensed solid
waste incinerator.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: All process waste and spillage will be contained, not
allowed to enter the environment and will be sent for
incineration.
