First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move the exposed person to fresh air at once. Perform
artificial respiration if breathing has stopped. Keep the
affected person warm and at rest. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Promptly wash with copious quantities of water while lifting
the eye lids for a period of at least 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Promptly remove any contaminated clothing or footwear, and
flush the skin with copious amounts of soap and water for at

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Never make an unconscious person vomit or drink fluids.
Rinse mouth and give plenty of water to drink. Seek medical
attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, carbon dioxide or dry chemical powder.

Product arising from burning: COx

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full body
protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Eliminate any naked flames and possible sources of ignition.
Control the generation of dust / vapours. Provide
ventilation and respiratory, skin and eye protection to
prevent over-exposure. Keep out of drains: prevent entry to
surface water, groundwater and soil. Vacuum (with HEPA-
filtered explosion proof equipment) or scoop spilled
material and place in a container.

Handling and storage

Handling: Latanoprost Lactone (PNU-249590) is handled in closed
systems (i.e. technical hoods equipped with HEPA- filter),
with operators donning the following PPE:- nitrile gloves
and safety glasses.

Dispensing of Latanoprost Lactone (PNU-249590) is carried
out in designated technical hoods, under negative pressure
with operators donning the following PPE:- nitrile gloves
and safety glasses.

Charging of Latanoprost Lactone (PNU-249590) is carried out
using a SPAT ( Stainless Portable Addition Tank). Charging
units(i.e. closed system charging) are under a nitrogen
bleed with operators donning the following PPE:- nitrile
gloves, safety glasses and Gemini full face mask (i.e.
negative pressure respirator).

Laboratories

Latanoprost Lactone (PNU-249590) is sampled in a designated
sampling room under extract (laminar air flow), with
personnel wearing tyvek suit, nitrile gloves and Gemini full
face mask. Once sampled the product is then handled in
fumehoods/downflow booths only (i.e. under negative pressure
and equipped with HEPA filter). PPE consists of nitrile
gloves and safety glasses.
