Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If symptomatic, move to fresh air. Treat symptomatically.

Get medical attention if symptoms persist.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Any material that contacts the eye should be washed out

immediately with water. Get medical attention if symptoms

occur.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Get medical attention if symptoms

occur.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide (CO2), dry chemical

Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon and nitrogen.

Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective

clothing. Fire or excessive heat may produce hazardous

decomposition products.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination.

Collect up and put in a suitable container.

Avoid generation of dust.

Handling and storage

Handling: Personal Precautionary Measures:

Avoid prolonged or repeated breathing of dust. Avoid contact

with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Use

with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Prevention of Fire and Explosion:

Powdered material may form explosive dust-air mixtures.

Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Use with

adequate ventilation. Keep away from sources of ignition.

Keep from contact with oxidizing materials.

Storage: Keep container closed.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The dye will be imported as a solid in 5-kilogram pre-

weighed sealed poly lined bags in cardboard boxes.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Powdered material may form explosive dust-air mixtures.

Chemical reaction with water: Not hazardous.  Experience in use and structure activity

relationships indicate that the test substance is not

hazardous in contact with water or humid air.

Dust explosion: There are no data or experience indicating this substance

presents a dust explosion hazard; however no testing has

been conducted to characterize its dust explosivity

properties.  Fines of this substance, like those of many

organic dusts, may be capable of forming explosive dust

clouds in air.  Minimize dust generation and accumulation.

Keep away from sources of ignition.

Use adequate ventilation.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not practical to neutralize the substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: A temperature of 1000 degrees C is expected to be sufficient

to destroy the substance.  Combustion will produce carbon

oxides and nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Kodak Industrie, Chalon, France:

Wastes from formulation activities are released to the

shared industrial waste treatment facility, Station de

l'AUZIN.  Assuming ready biodegradability of the test

substance, the SIMPLETREAT model predicts approximately 74%

removal during wastewater treatment (based on the log P

value of 0.74 and the estimated Henry's Law constant (H) of

1.05e-021 Pa.m3.mole-3).

Kodak Limited, Harrow, UK:

Any wastes that remain after removal at the on-site

facilities will be discharged to the Mogden municipal

treatment works.  Assuming ready biodegradability of the

test substance, the SIMPLETREAT model predicts approximately

74% removal during wastewater treatment (based on the log P

value of 0.74 and the estimated Henry's Law constant (H) of

1.05e-021 Pa.m3.mole-3).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not practical to neutralize the substance.
