First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from exposure and keep patient at rest. Seek medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Irigate thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek

medical attenton immediately.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected areas with water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a

fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg carbon and nitrogen

oxides). However, there is no experimental evidence to

identify the anticipated combustion products.

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: In the event of a large spillage wear an airsuit, rubber

gloves and rubber boots and carefully collect up the solid

and transfer to a sealed container. Wipe up any powder left

with a damp cloth and place in a container for disposal.

In the event of a small spillage wear a laboratory coat, eye

protection, rubber gloves and if the spillage occurs

outside a fume cupboard, a dust respirator to FFP2S

protection. Collect up the solid carefully and transfer to a

sealed container. Wipe up any powder left with a damp cloth

and place in a container for disposal.

Dispose of waste material by incineration in accordance with

local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374

Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166

When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be

used. e.g.  a dust mask conforming to EN149 FFP1.

The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a

minimum.

Storage: Store in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 25 kg drum (usually fibreboard); double bagged PE antistatic

liners.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Under normal conditions of use this material does not

present a significant explosion hazard. However, like most

organic compounds it is combustible and may form a dust

explosion if widely dispersed in air.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not

economically or technically feasible, and such waste

material will be disposed of by incineration. In principle,

it may be possible to recover larger spillages of

uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the substance is

considered hazardous to health and the environment.

No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the

hazardous health properties or environmental hazards.

The dust hazard will be minimised by appropriate handling

and storage.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment

processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases

should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg oxides of

carbon and nitrogen) could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to

the sewage system or the aqueous environment.
