Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove subject to fresh air.  If irritation persists, get

prompt medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash eyes immediately under running water for 15 minutes.

Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin with soap and water for 15 minutes.

If skin irritation occurs, get prompt medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry chemical powder.  Foam is not effective.

Product arising from burning: During fire, fumes containing sulphur oxide and nitrogen are

liberated.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Use normal procedures for flammable solid fires.  Wear self

contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Avoid respiratory, skin and eye contact with this material

by using a dust mask; butyl rubber, PVC or neoprene gloves;

and safety glasses or splash goggles.  Spilled material

should be swept up or shovelled up with nonsparking tools

and collected for disposal.  Wash hands thoroughly after

handling.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance will only be handled by trained personnel.

Exposure is minimal.  Respiratory, skin and eye contact are

avoided using a respirator, chemical resistant gloves (butyl

rubber, PVC or neoprene gloves) and chemical splash goggles.

Mechanical room ventilation is provided.

Storage: The substance should be stored in original containers.  The

storage area should be cool (20°C) dry and well ventilated.

Keep away from heat, open flame and sparks.  Do not expose

to UV light.  Avoid storing for longer than a year.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The preparation is packaged into either one gallon or one

quart bottles, which are put in a cardboard box.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Keep away from heat, open flame and sparks.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: The material is present in low concentration in a liquid

preparation.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Due to the low concentration of the substance in the product

formulation, recovery would not be effective.  Contaminated

product cannot be recycled in most cases.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of the preparation

mixed with inert material (e.g. sand or soil) may be

disposed of at an authorised tip in accordance with local

regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The usual route to destruction of this material is by

dissolution into a cleaning or wash solvent followed by

incineration.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: In the unlikely event that the preparation should enter the

water treatment systems, contaminated water should be

treated by means of flocculation precipitation.  The

precipitated material should be incinerated.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None known.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable as the substance will not be used by the

general public.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Not applicable
