First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Remove contact lens and pour a gentle stream of water over
the affected eye for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical
attention if irritation occurs.
Emergency measure - Skin: Run a gentle stream of water over the affected area for 15
minutes. A mild soap may be used if available. Seek
medical attention if irritation occurs.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse the inside of the mouth with water. Do not induce
vomiting. Drink plenty of water. Never give anything by
mouth to an unconcious person. If irritation occurs seek
medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving noxious fumes (e.g. carbon oxides, smoke)
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.
Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.
Accidental release measures
spilled. Product can be recovered by sweeping into a
container (taking care not to generate dust).
Handling and storage
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.
Local exhaust ventilation will be provided during all
processing steps.
When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.
Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
international or national standards as follows;
Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374
Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368
Eye protection to Standard EN166.
Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be
used, it must be capable of adequately controlling
exposure, be suitable for purpose, and conform to the
appropriate international or national standards.
These measures should be regarded as a minimum.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.
Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Sealed plastic bottles contained in sealed and appropriately
labelled cardboard box containers.

observe the warning labels on the container.

Stability and reactivity
Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous
Dust explosion: The substance is an organic solid and therefore the
possibility of a dust explosion exists.
Avoid dust formation and only use in an area provided with
appropriate local exhaust ventilation.

Disposal considerations
Minor spillages may be recovered by sweeping into a
container. However, such material would not be able to be
reused and would be disposed of by incineration.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: 641 Removal by controlled discharge to a waste water
treatment plant.
Waste water containing the substance from lens washing is
sent to a WWTP. Due to the very small quantities involved,
adverse effects on sewage treatment systems would be
unlikely.
