First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove exposed person to fresh air. If not breathing give

artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult administer

oxygen. Get medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Hold eyelids apart and flush with running water for at least

15 minutes. Get medical attention if signs of irritation

develop.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contamined clothing. Wash with water for for at least

15 minutes.If irritation  persists seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately. Vomiting may be induced

if person is conscious and not experiencing convulsions.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, CO2, foam or dry chemical.

Use appropriate medium for underlying cause of the fire and

surrounding environment.

Protective equipment: Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing

apparatus, flame and chemical resistant clothing, boots and

gloves. Evacuate containers(s) with water from a maximum

distance.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Limit access to spill area. Wearing suitable protective

clothing and equipment, collect material  to minimize dust

generation; use wet mop, damp sponge or wet/dry HEPA vacuum

Place collected material into a suitable container for

disposal. After material has been removed from spill

area,clean area thoroughly with detergent and water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Engineering controls in the form  of local exhaust

ventilation are provided at reactor. When engineering

controls are not sufficient to control dust exposure

approved respiratory protection in conformance with EN 136

standard should be worn. For manufacturing areas, skin

protection should be provided in the form of full air suits

(conforming to standard EN 374) along with impermeable

gloves. Rubber, neoprene or other gloves may be required if

solvents, corrosives  or other chemicals are present.

Chemical safety glasses should be worn if a full-face

respirator is not being worn. All safety and handling

information is provided to the employees through standard

operating procedures, batch records and training.

Storage: Room temperature storage acceptable. Maintain low humidity

to avoid clumping. Containers must be correctly labelled and

kept tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance is packaged ih UN approved fibre drums.

Dust explosion: Material exhibits strong explosion characteristics if

ignited as a  dust cloud. Material is extremely susceptible

to accumulating static during processing and uncontrolled

static discharge may result in igniting a dust cloud under

certain conditions. Provide appropriate bonding and

grounding protection to control static charges. Powder

handling equipment such as dust collectors, dryers and mills

may require additional protective measures (explosion

venting)

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery/Recycling is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Trace quantities are destroyed by biological oxidation in

waste water treatment plant (method A 641).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended: A closed-cycle incinerator with srubbers should

be employed. National and local regulations must be

observed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Trace quantities in aqueous washes can be treated in

secondary biological WWTP before discharge to municipal

treatment works. The substance should not normally be

discharged to the sewer system or the aqueous environment.
