Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 28-Day EC50(reduction in emergence) and 28 EC50 (reproduction) measured in sediment-dwelling larvae of Chironomus riparius and sediment-dwelling oligochaete, Lumbriculus variegatus. The 28-Day EC50(reduction in emergence) and 28 EC50 (reproduction) based on nominal test concentrations was greater than 1000 mg/kg. The No Observed Effect Concentration was equal to or greater than 1000 mg/kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 or LC50 for freshwater sediment:
1 000 mg/kg sediment dw
EC10, LC10 or NOEC for freshwater sediment:
1 000 mg/kg sediment dw

Additional information

Data from two studies are available to assess the toxicity of the test item to the sediment-dwelling larvae of Chironomus riparius and sediment-dwelling oligochaete, Lumbriculus variegatus.

The methods followed recommendations of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals No. 218 (April 2004) "Sediment-Water Chironomid Toxicity Test using Spiked Sediment" and method of the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals (2004), "Sediment-water LumbriculusToxicity Test using Spiked Sediment", OECD Guideline No. 225, October 2007 respectively. All data were gatheredin accordance with the Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and reported with a valid GLP certificate.

Both studies were conducted over a 28-day exposure period at a nominal equivalent to 1000 mg/l. All measured concentrations were shown to be ≥90% of starting concentrations.

The 28-Day EC50(reduction in emergence) and 28 EC50 (reproduction) based on nominal test concentrations was greater than 1000 mg/kg. The No Observed Effect Concentration was equal to or greater than 1000 mg/kg.
