Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. If still having difficulty
breathing, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water. If irritation persists,
seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with plenty of water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,
nitrogen and hydrogen bromide gas and some soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Protective equipment and a self-contained breathing
apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1) Sweep and
shovel spill into an empty plastic-lined labelled

container. Dispose of by incineration in accordance with
local regulations. Wash spill site with plenty of water. Do
not allow the substance to enter water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Material should be handled with good ventilation, eye
glasses and gloves are required.

Respiratory protection should be worn if dust generation is
expected to occur.

Storage: Material should be stored at room temperature.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Polyethylene lined drums (55 gallons (250 litre)),
containing about 200-220 kg of a 50% aqueous solution.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: The substance will only be imported into the as a 50%
aqueous solution, the possible dust explosivity is not
relevant. If the solid substance is imported, the
standardprecautions for handling powders in order to
minimise the possibility of a dust explosion should be
followed.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery by mechanical collection. [A611]

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incinerator with flue gas scrubbing to remove oxides of
nitrogen and hydrogen bromide should be fitted. The aqueous
solution should be concentrated before incineration. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form
of photographic products that can be disposed of as domestic
waste.
