First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water. Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and plenty of water. Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder and water may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and
nitrogen and some soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1).

Damp down spill with water. Absorb using suitable absorbent
material (eg sand or soil). Transfer to labelled waste
containers using a sealed industrial vacuum. Dispose of by
incineration or at a landfill in accordance with local
regulations.

Wash spill site with detergent and water. Prevent spilt
substance and/or washings from entering water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Ensure adequate ventilation, use engineering controls.
Protective clothing (impervious apron), chemical resistant
gloves, safety goggles and respiratory equipment should be
worn if exposure cannot be adequately controlled.

Storage: Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dark place.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Finished printer ribbons:

Double low-density polyethylene bags containing 10 kg packed
in a cardboard carton.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed
with inert material (eg. sand or soil) may be disposed of by
landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local
regulations. (A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility. Waste gas
treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen should be fitted.
(A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not be discharged directly to sewage
systems or to the aqueous environment.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will only enter the public domain on coated
film which can be disposed of as domestic waste.
