Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air.  Symptomatic treatment.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water.  Seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash immediatley with copious amounts of water.  Use an

emergency shower if extensive contamination.  Seek medical

advice.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical advice immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, foam, carbon dioxide and dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,

nitrogen and sulfur.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full proctective clothing and a sel-contained breathing

apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1).

Do not allow spill to enter drains or water systems.

Absorb spill using a suitable inert material (eg sand or

soil).  Transfer to labelled waste containers or use a

sealed industrial vacuum machine.  Dispose of by

incineration or at a suitable landfill site.  Wash spill

site with detergent and water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions when handling organic

chemicals.  Ensure adequate ventilation.  Avoid ingestion,

inhalation and contact with skin and eyes.  Protective

clothing, a plastic apron, impervious gloves and safety

goggles (BS 2092) should be worn.

Storage: Store in tightly closed polyethylene containers.

Keep away from frost.

The substance is hygroscopic.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance has a high pH, neutralisation may be achieved

by quenching with acetic acid or similar to reduce pH from

12 to pH6 or 8.  No chemical treatment is practicable to

neutralise the hazardous environment properties.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance may be disposal of at a landfill site

following neutralisation with acetic acid and reaction with

epoxy resin to form polymeric material.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance may be disposal of by incineration. Waste gas

treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen and sulfur should be

used.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance sould not normally be discharged to the

sewagesystem or the aqueous environment.  Although the

substance may be considered partially biodegradable,

discharge to waste water treatment plants should be avoided.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
