Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Surface tension = 71.9 mN/m at 21.5°C for a concentration of 1 g/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
71.9
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1 000

Additional information

Two data are available for this endpoint.

One has been considered as not reliable because the surface tension has been measured in an inappropriate concentration of the test solution.

In the second study, the surface tension of ITC 288/S has been determined according the EU method A.5 of the Commission directive 92/69/EEC and the GLP. The following deviation is reported in the test report:The surface tension result was not corrected using the Harkins-Jordan correction table. Considering that this deviation has not affected the integrity of the study, it has been considered as reliable wihout restriction and selected as key study.

The determination was carried out using a White Electrical Institute interfacial tension balance and a procedure based on the ISO 304 ring method.

Based on the result obtained, ITC 288/S is considered not to be a surface active material.
