Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse thoroughly with water for 10 minutes.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water for 10 minutes.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Give copious amounts of water. Do not induce vomiting, seek

medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder or water fog.

Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon and nitrogen oxides

together with some hydrogen chloride gas and soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear suitable protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Shovel spilt material into drums and dispose of by

incineration. Do not allow to enter water courses as the

compound is hazardous to aquatic organisms. If contamination

is minor, recovery by recrystallisation is possible.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use engineering controls so as to prevent exposure to the

substance. The following protective equipment must be worn:

half air suit and PVC trousers (or an air hood with PVC

suit), with PVC gloves and boots. Decontaminate after use.

Do not eat, drink or smoke during work.

Storage: Use 45 gallon polyline drums.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The possibility of recovery for reuse depends upon the

degree of contamination. Recrystallisation from industrial

methylated spirits is used to recover off-specification

material. (A623)

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No validated chemical treatment available at present.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance should be destroyed in an approved incinerator

with waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen oxides or

hydrogen chloride gas. The temperature should be high enough

to destroy dioxin producing compounds. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
