Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air, symptomatic treatment

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water for at least 15 minutes

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention, symptomatic treatment

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon and nitrogen oxides

together with some soot and hydrogen bromide gas. Suitable

extinguishing agents are water mist, carbon dioxide, foam

or dry powder.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Damp down spills before sweeping up and transferring to

waste containers. Dispose of waste by incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use under conditions of good industial hygiene. Ensure that

exposure is minimised eg. use extraction systems. If there

is a danger of dust inhalation, use a dust mask conforming

to BS 6016, Type 2 (Alternatively, masks in 3M Catalogue

may be used, Nos. 8710, 8715, 9913 and 9920). Average

particle size is several tens of microns in diameter.

Storage: No special precautions.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not economically feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Incinerators should be equipped with

waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen oxides and hydrogen

bromide gas.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is not readily biodegradable. It is of low

water solubility and may be recovered by filtration.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from paper is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Paper may be disposed of as domestic waste.
