treat possible methaemoglobinemia with methylene blue

(intravenous 5-10 ml)].

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon and nitrogen oxides

together with some hydrogen chloride gas and soot. A

self-contained breathing apparatus should be used. Suitable

extinguishing agents are water, carbon dioxide, foam and dry

powder.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect and scoop up spilled material. Transfer to a marked

(eg hydrogen peroxide or potassium dichromate) or standard

kjeldahlisation.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen

oxides and hydrogen chloride gas should be used. A minimum

temperature of 1200 deg C is recomended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended. [UK c.a.: The substance is harmful to
