First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash with water
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: In case of fire, normal extinguishing media may be used (eg
water, C02, foam, dry powder). The substance itself does
not present a fire hazard. If involved in a fire, nitric
oxides and carbon dioxide may be produced and self
contained breathing apparatus should then be used.

Accidental release measures

Handling and storage

Handling: The usual precautions for handling chemicals should be
observed.

Storage: No special precautions. The substance is normally stored as
an aqueous solution in closed containers in adequate rooms.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: In normal use over 95% of the substance is consumed during
the dyeing process Recovery of the remaining, highly water
soluble, dyestuff is not reasonably practicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable as the substance has no harmful effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Possible

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Ensure sufficient air for complete combustion. Nitrogen
oxides. may be formed and stack-gas scrubbing is
recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Less than 5% of the total quantitiy used is discharged into
internal industrial effluent. Waste water in treated in
pre-purification plants before discharge.
