Additional information

No genotoxicity data of Si/FeSi silicate exists. The silicate was assumed to have toxicological properties similar to those of practically insoluble silicates. In vitro and in vivo tests of non-fibrous silicates have not shown genotoxic activity.

Several silicates (eg. Al-, Ca-, CaAl-, Mg-, NaAl-silicates) are allowed food additives and cosmetics ingredients.

Short description of key information:
No genotoxicity data of Si/FeSi silicate exists, but the silicate was assumed to have toxicological properties similar to those of practically insoluble silicates.
In vivo and in vitro tests of non-fibrous silicates have not shown genotoxic activity.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Si/FeSi silicate is not classifiable for genotoxicity.
