Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The octanol/water partition coefficient (log Kow) has been evaluated using the HPLC methods (OECD 117) for structurally similar substances

using a weight of evidence approach. Based on the results from these studies, the log Kow for the registration substance is considered likely to be in the range of 9.5-10.1. A value of 9.5 is adopted for purposes of further assessment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
9.5

Additional information

There are no available data for this endpoint for Registration material CAS: 96152-43-1, therefore studies from supporting, structurally similar substances have been used as for read-across purposes to address this endpoint. All materials within this IUCLID5 category are believed to have a log Kow value > 6. Two robust studies are available for similar materials within this category and these have been used to create a range within which the log Kow is believed to fall for this material. These two studies have been selected as the most reliable indicators for this material as they were performed following guideline methodology, unlike the other available information.

The following two key studies have been used to fulfil this endpoint:

- Dutta, 2010/122384 -86 -5, conducted to the OECD 117 method.

Result: Log Kow (weighted average) of 9.5 has been calculated

- Dutta, 2010/68855 -45 -8, conducted to the OECD 117 method, Result: Log Kow (weighted average) of 10.1 has been calculated.

Supporting information is also available:

- The Rausina, 1996 study (CAS No. 122384-87-6/68784-26-9) was assigned a reliability rating of 2 according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as it is considered to be a well-conducted non-guideline non-GLP study. Restricted because study lacks detailed information on individual data and the study is a specialized method that was developed due to very limited water solubility and difficulty in analysis. Result: The log Kow was determined by HPLC to be 6.6.
