Description of key information

DSC analyses on cocoa powder samples enable preliminary information to be obtained on autoflammability of the substance at elevated temperatures. There is no evidence from the DSC analysis of a very sharp temperature rise above the oven temperature that would be indicative of the substance igniting (the sharper peak at low temperature is associated with melting of the lipid component in the substance). Similarly, in a preliminary flammability study in accordance with EC Method A.10, there was no evidence of combustion or flame propagation.
