First-aid measures

DESCRIPTION OF FIRST AID MEASURES

General Information

Remove contaminated soaked clothing immediately.

In the event of persistent symptoms receive medical treatment.

After Inhalation

Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of dust or fumes from overheating or combustion.

In the event of symptoms refer for medical treatment.

After Contact With Skin

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.

In case of irritation consult a physician.

Remove immediately adhering matter.

After Contact With Eyes

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

After Ingestion

Rinse out mouth and give plenty of water to drink.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Summon a doctor immediately.

Induce vomiting only upon the advice of a physician.

MOST IMPORTANT SYMPTOMS AND EFFECTS, BOTH ACUTE AND DELAYED

Toxic if swallowed.

May cause an allergic skin reaction.

Causes skin irritation

Causes eye irritation

May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure (liver).

INDICATION OF ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND SPECIAL TREATMENT NEEDED

Treat symptoms.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Suitable Extinguishing Media

Foam, carbondioxide, dry chemical, water-spray.

Extinguishing Media Which Must Not Be Used For Safety Reasons

Full water jet.

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE

Fire may produce : carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides.

Dust may form explosive mixture in air.

ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS

Use breathing apparatus with independent air supply.

Protective suit.

Additional Information

Cool containers at risk with water spray jet.

Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface waters. Sufficient measures must be taken to retain water used for extinguishing.

Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Respirator must be worn if exposed to dust.

Ensure adequate ventillation.

Use personal protective clothing.

Remove all sources of ignition.

Dust may form explosive mixture in air.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS

Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Do not discharge into the subsoil/soil.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP

Pick up mechanically, avoiding dust, and provide disposal in suitable recipients.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING

Advice On Safe Handling

Keep container tightly closed.

Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery and at places where dust can be generated.

Do not breathe dust.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Advice On Protection Against Fire And Explosion

Avoid the formation and deposition of dust.

Keep away from sources of ignition.

Dust may form explosive mixture in air.

CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES

Requirements For Storage Rooms And Vessels

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, well ventilated place.

Further Information On Storage Conditions

Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection

CONTROL PARAMETERS

Additional Advice On Limit Values

Obey TLV for common dust, if applicable.

EXPOSURE CONTROLS

Occupational Exposure Controls

Ensure adequate ventilation especially in confirmed areas.

Protective And Hygiene Measures

Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.

When using, do not eat, drink or smoke.

Do not wear contact lenses when handling the product.

Respiratory Protection

Respirator must be worn if exposed to dust.

Hand Protection

Protective gloves resistant to chemicals made of nitrile, minimum coat thickness 0.4mm, permeation resistance (wear duration) approx. 480 minutes.

This recommendation refers exclusively to the chemical compatibility and the test conforming to EN 374 carried out under laboratory conditions.

Therefore it is necessary to adhere additionally to the recommendations given by the manufacturer of protective gloves.

Eye Protection

Eye wash bottle with pure water.

Tightly fitting goggles.

Skin Protection

Long sleeved clothing.

Stability and reactivity

REACTIVITY

No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

CHEMICAL STABILITY

Stable under normal conditions.

POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS

Risk of dust explosions.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID

To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.

INCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS

Strong oxidizing agents.

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS

Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides.

Disposal considerations

WASTE TREATMENT METHODS

Advice On Disposal

Can be incinerated, when in compliance with local regulations.

Where possible recycling is preferred to disposal.

Waste disposal number of waste from residues/unused products

070699

Wastes from organic chemical processes ; wastes from the MFSU of fine chemicals and chemical products not otherwise specified ; wastes not otherwise specified.

Contaminated Packaging

Empty containers should be taken for local recycling, recovery or waste disposal.

Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible and after appropriate cleansing may be taken for reuse.

Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of like the product.
