Reference
Endpoint:
solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
August from 12 to 23, 1991
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: EU method A.7
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The Guideline was based on OECD 116.
GLP compliance:
yes
Medium:
other: fat simulant HB 307
Solubility:
<= 0.07 mg/100 g solvent
Temp.:
37 °C
Remarks on result:
other: standard deviation=0 mg/100 g fat

The fat solubility measured in each flask is shown in the table below:

Flasks  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
S' ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07
S ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07 ≤ 0.07
Mean value ≤ 0.07 mg/100 g fat
Standard deviation 0 mg/100 g fat
Fat solubility at 37 °C ≤ 0.07 mg/100 g fat

S' = concentraton of test substance in mg/100 g fat solution.

S = concentration of test substance in mg/100 g fat.

Conclusions:
Fat solubility ≤ 0.07 mg/100 g fat at 37 °C.
Executive summary:

The fat solubility of the substance was tested according to the EEC Guideline L 251/A.7. In eight flasks containing an amount of sample, 25 g of fat were added. Half of the flasks were agitated at 30 °C and half at 50 °C, while the agitation duration was 1 h and 24 h. After 1 h of equilibration at 37 °C the fat solubility was determined.

Conclusion

Fat solubility ≤ 0.07 mg/100 g fat at 37 °C.

Description of key information

Fat solubility ≤ 0.07 mg/100 g fat at 37 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Solubility in mg/100g standard fat:
