Description of key information
(-)-Germacrene D was identified as the Lead Constituent in the UVCB Cymbopogon winterianus extract. However, this constituent is very lipophilic (estimated log Kow 6.77), thus represents the fate and behaviour of only less than 6.52% of the composition. Moreover, its ecotoxicity predicted by ECOSAR is very probably overestimated due to its high lipohilicity. In consequence, a refinement is required by using a block approach. Three blocks were identified, and for each of them one constituent choosen as the more representative:
1) Sesquiterpenes with Log Kow ≥ 6, represented by Germacrene D;
2) Sesquiterpenes with Log Kow < 6, represented by teta/alpha-Muurolol;
3) Monterpenoids with Log Kow < 5, represented by Geraniol.
