Executive summary:

The surface tension of the test substance was investigated using plate method in accordance with EU guideline A5. Using this method the surface tension of the test substance was determined to be 68.4 ± 0.6 mN/m at a concentration of 0.6 mg/L and at temperature of 25°C.

Additional information

The surface tension of the test substance was measured using a Kruss K12 tensiometer in accordance with EU method A5 (plate method). The test was performed on solutions of test substance at 90% of the saturation concentration in duplicate. The surface tension of the 90% saturation test solutions 1 and 2 was 68.22 mN/m and 68.61 mN/m, respectively. The mean surface tension was 68.4±0.5 mN/m. For calibration, the surface tension of Milli Q water was measured at 72.28 mN/m at 24.8°C. As this value did not deviate by more than ±0.5 mN/m from the literature value of 71.90 mN/m, the calibration was considered to be successful.
