Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No data on the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates of Acid Yellow 049 sodium salt is available. Therefore, a read across approach was followed using available dat on Acid Yellow 049 acid form. Details on the read across approach are reported in section 13.

The substance was tested on acute immobilisation test on Daphnia magna, according to ISO 6341 15. Daphnids were exposed to the nominal concentration of 1000, 800, 700, 600, 500, 400, 200, 100, 60  mg/l, over a period of 48 hours.

Immobilisation in the controls did not exceed 10 % at the end of the test and the dissolved oxygen concentrations (throughout the test) remained above 2 mg/l. The resulting EC50 were 608 and 302 mg/l at 24 and 48 hours, respectively.

There was no information about measured concentrations. However, there was no reason to suspect that the substance may not be stable over the whole testing period because of the physicochemical properties: substances is water soluble, not readily abiotically or biotically degradable. Possible adsorption is expected to be negligible.
