Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria), but moderately biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Data on the biodegradability of the mixture N3/N4-amine are not available. Therefore, the assessment is based on the available experimental data for the constituents N-(2 -aminoethyl)-1,3 -propanediamine (CAS 13531-52-7), N,N'-bis(3 -aminopropyl)ethylenediamine (CAS 10563-26-5) and ethylenediamine (CAS 107-15-3), as well as for the structurally similar substance trientine (CAS 112-24-3). In addition, the biodegradation potential was estimated for the constituent N1,N1'-(iminodi-2,1-ethanediyl)bis -1,3-propanediamine (CAS 112-24-3). The data are listed in the table below:

Overall conlusion:

Based on a weight-of-evidence approach by the available data for the constituents of N3/N4 –amine and an additional structurally analogous compound, the mixture is concluded to be not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria), but moderately biodegradable.
