Results and discussion

Flammable solids
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Any other information on results incl. tables

In contact with the flame (gas burner) the test item glowed. After removal of ignition source, no propogation of combustion of the test item was observed. Consistency of the sample was unchanged.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The substance did not propogation of combustion.
Executive summary:

Gadolinium oxide sulfide (Gd2O2S), ytterbium-doped was tested for flammability in accordance with EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids). The substance was preliminary screened via combustion/propogation along a 200 mm length of pile over 2 minutes of flame heating and 2 minutes there after. If applicable the time of burning a distance of 200mm was measured after the pile had burned a distance of 50 mm. No propogation of combustion of the test item along the 200 mm length was observed within 4 minutes. Therefore, the item is considered 'not highly flammable'.
