key study
Study period:
2010-05-14
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Justification for type of information:
More information on the justification regarding the category approach of the dialkylmethyl amines can be found in attached justification.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
read-across source
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Deviations:
not specified
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Boiling pt.:
> 300 °C
Atm. press.:
1 atm
Conclusions:
The boiling point of the substance is >300 °C at atmospheric pressure.
Executive summary:

Boiling point was determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry method according to OECD guideline 103. In the test conditions, boiling point of CAS number 7396-58-9 is measured above 300 °C. This study follows EU and OECD guidelines but without GLP compliance. Therefore, this study is considered as reliable with restrictions.

Description of key information

No data is available for the substance itself. The value has been read across from structurally similar substances (C10 alkyl chain with CAS no. 7396-58-9 and C16-18 alkyl chain with CAS no. 1227096-04-9). The boiling points of these structurally similar substances have been measured to be >300 °C for the C10 alkyl chain and 300 °C for the C16-18 alkyl chain. The conclusion is that the substance registered (C12-18 alkyl chain) has a boiling point of 300 °C at atmospheric pressure.
