Description of key information

Appearance:

On the basis of physical observation, test chemical was observed to be a Dark reddish free flowing liquid.

 

Melting point:

A study was performed to observe the freezing point of test chemical at atmospheric pressure. The study was conducted using Standard laboratory method. The Freezing point was observed to be less than -10.08 ºC at 963.3 hPa.

Boiling point:

A study was performed to determine the boiling point of test chemical at atmospheric pressure. The study was conducted in accordance with OECD 103. The mean boiling point was observed to be 118°C at 963.9 hPa.

Density:

The density of test chemical was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the IS 4730: 1994 (Reaffirmed 2010) – Method for Determination of Density of Liquids (First Revision) using glass pyknometer. The mean density of test chemical was determined to be 1.0848 g/cm³ at 20°C and 963.7 hPa.

 

Particle size distribution (Granulometry):

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non-solid or granular form.

 

Vapour pressure:

Modified Grain method (Mean of Antoine and Modified Grain methods) was used to estimate the vapour pressure of the test substance (CAS NAME) using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE. The estimated vapour pressure of the test chemical at 25 °C was 5.47E-14 mm Hg which is equivalent to 7.292733e-12 Pa.

 

Partition coefficient:

KOWWIN V1.68 was used to estimate the octanol water partition coefficient of the test chemical. The estimated log POW of the test chemical was 3.45. Based on the estimated value, the test chemical can be considered hydrophilic in nature.

 

Water solubility:

The water solubility determination of test chemical was done as per the OECD guideline 105 by spectrophotometric analytical method and as per OECD 101. The water solubility value was observed to be 211.8 g/L at 25°C.

 

Surface tension:

Based on the data from predicted database, surface tension of test chemical was predicted to be 0.04 N/mwhich is equivalent to 40 mN/m

 

Flash point:

Study was performed to determine the flash point of test chemical at atmospheric pressure. The study was conducted in accordance with ASTM Designation: D93–15a Standard Test Methods for Flash Point by Pensky-Marten’s Closed Cup Method. The mean flash point of test chemical was determined to be 75°C at 963.8 hPa. Thus based on the value, it is concluded that the test chemical was Non-flammable.

 

Auto flammability:

Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that test chemical is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Flash point of test chemical was determined to be 75° at 963.8 hPa. On the basis of GHS classification criteria, test chemical has flash point greater than 60°C hence the test chemical was considered to be non flammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

 

Oxidising properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogens atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

pH:

The pH observation of test chemical was done as per the test guideline OECD 122. The mean pH of the test dispersion was determined with the help of digital pH meter. Based on available data, experimental pH value for 1% aqueous solution of test chemical was observed to be 4.02 at 27.7 °C, inferring it is acidic in nature nature.

Viscosity:

A study was performed to determine the viscosity of test chemical at specified temperature of 20°C and 40°C. The study was conducted in accordance with OECD 114. The kinematic viscosity (experimental) at 20°C and 40°C was determined to be 43.2250 mm²/sec and 31.7642 mm²/s, respectively. The dynamic viscosity (calculated) at 20°C and 40°C was determined to be 46.8904 mPa.S and 34.4578 mPa.S, respectively.
