Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

According to the REACH Regulation (ec N. 1907/2006) Annex VII, Column 2, the study does not need to be conducted when the organic substance or a homogenous mixture of organic substances contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties, but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500 °C.

The test substance has an exothermic decomposition energy less than 500 J/g, therefore the test doesn't need to be conducted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the definition set out in the CLP Regulation (EC N. 1272/2008) an explosive substance or mixture is a solid or liquid substance or mixture of substances which is in itself capable by chemical reaction of producing gas at such a temperature and pressure and at such a speed as to cause damage to the surroundings. Pyrotechnic substances are included even when they do not evolve gases.

Since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule the specific tests was not conducted and the substance is considered as non explosive.
