Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
11 February - 9 April 2002
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
not specified
Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Batch n°: ZR027180PUG231
- Analytical purity: 99.3%
- Expiration date: 9 November 2006
- Storage condition: at room temperature, 10 to 30°C
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point

Prior to heating, the test sample was a white free flowing powder.

No exotherm is visible in the temperature/time chart trace of the experiment. The small negative deviation at approximately 130°C corresponds with the melting temperature. After heating, a residue was present in the holder at the bottom

of the furnace, suggesting that the test substance had melted during the test and solidified on cooling.

Conclusions:
On heating the test substance to 180°C, no self-ignition was observed.

Description of key information

From a key study (K1, Bates, 2002) according to EC method A.16, it could be derived that no self-ignition was oberved up to 180°C, which is above the melting temperature of the test substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
