Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

First aid:

Swallowed: Rinse mouth. Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water. If irritation or discomfort occurs, obtain medical advice immediately.

Eye: Do not rub eyes. Flush with lukewarm, gently flowing water for 5 minutes or until particle removed. If irritation persists, obtain medical attention.

Inhalation: If symptoms are experienced, move victim to fresh air and obtain medical advice.

Skin: Wash with soap and water. If irritation persists, obtain medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Fire/Explosion Hazard:

Hazards of Use/Storage: No specific hazard of use/storage under normal conditions.

List of Dangerous Decomposition Products:

Combustion will produce carbon dioxide, and possibly toxic chemicals such as carbon monoxide.

Types of Extinguisher/Fire-fighting Agents:

CO2, water, dry chemicals.

Precautions:

Can form explosive dust-air mixtures when finely dispersed in air.

Protective clothing:

Wear a half-face filter mask and safety glasses suitable for the dust.

Reactivity: Not specified.

Accidental release measures

Clean Up Spills/Leak:

No spillage should occur in normal operation of handling. If it should occur, avoid inhalation of the dust. Sweep material onto paper and carefully transfer to a sealable waste container.

Precautions for Clean Up Crew:

Sweep slowly spilled powder on to paper and carefully transfer into a waste container.

Clean remainder with wet paper, wet cloth or a vacuum cleaner.

If a vacuum cleaner is used, it must rate as a dust explosion-proof type. Fine powder can form explosive dust-air mixture.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid ignition sources.

Storage: Store in a dry place in tightly closed containers.

Storage Incompatibilities:

Keep out of reach of children.

Keep away from oxidising materials

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering Controls: Use in a ventilated area.

Personal protection:

Respirator: Provide adequate ventilation. Use local exhaust ventilation under dusting conditions. Keep the dust under set exposure limits.

Glove: Not required under intended use.

Eye protection: Not required under intended use.

Protective clothing: Not required under intended use.

Flammability: Non-flammable solid.

Source of ignition advice: Avoid ignition source, as powder is capable of creation of a dust explosion like most organic material in powder form.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: None

Chemical stability: Stable

Possibility of hazardous reactions: None

Conditions to avoid: Avoid heat, flames, sparks and other sources of ignition.

Incompatible materials: Acids, bases, oxidizing materials and reducing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: CO and CO2.

Disposal considerations

Do not put toner or toner container or  cartridge into fire; heated toner may cause severe burns. Do not shred a toner container holding remaining  toner, unless dust-explosion preventing measures are taken. Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air. Disposal should be subject to federal, state or local laws.
