First-aid measures

1. Description of first aid measures

First-aid measures general : Obtain medical attention. If possible show this sheet, if not available show packaging or label.

First-aid measures after inhalation : Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration. Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after skin contact : Get medical advice/attention. Wash with plenty of soap and water.

First-aid measures after eye contact : Get medical advice/attention. Immediately flush eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes.

First-aid measures after ingestion : Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water. Get medical advice/attention.

2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms/effects after inhalation : May cause respiratory irritation.

Symptoms/effects after skin contact : Irritation.

Symptoms/effects after eye contact : Eye irritation.

3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

1. Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media : In case of starting fire, use of foam or CO2. For more important fires, apply some water as fast as possible. Use big quantities of water in the form of mist or pulverizing; jets sticks are ineffectives. Flood containers concerned with big quantities of water.

2. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Fire hazard : Flammable liquid and vapour.

Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire: Carbon oxides (CO, CO2). Sulphur oxides.

3. Advice for firefighters

Protection during firefighting : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment.

Self-contained breathing apparatus. Complete protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

1. Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

General measures : Beware of vapors that accumulate in concentrations explosive. Vapors may accumulate in low areas.

1.1. For non-emergency personnel

Protective equipment : Individual protection measures, e.g. personal protective equipment.

Emergency procedures : Ventilate spillage area. No open flames, no sparks, and no smoking. Avoid breathing mist, vapours, gas, spray. Evacuate area. Avoid ignition sources.

1.2. For emergency responders

Protective equipment : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment.

2. Environmental precautions

Avoid release to the environment.

3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up : Contain and collect spilled material with a antistatic vacuum cleaner and brush wet and put in a container for disposal according to local regulations.

Other information : Dispose of materials or solid residues at an authorized site.

Handling and storage

1. Precautions for safe handling

Precautions for safe handling : Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Avoid breathing mist, vapours. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Hygiene measures : Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Always wash hands after handling the product.

2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Storage conditions : Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep cool. Carefully close all opened container and kept upright to prevent leakage. Store in a dry place.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls:

Ensure good ventilation of the work station. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Hand protection:

Protective gloves

Eye protection:

Facial protection and safety goggles. Use an equipment of protection of eyes, tested and approved according to the current governmental standards, such as NIOSH (US) or IN 166 (EU).

Skin and body protection:

Wear full protective gear against chemicals. Flame retardant antistatic protective clothing. The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

Respiratory protection:

Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi purpose combination (US) or type ABEK (EN 14387) respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Environmental exposure controls:

Avoid release to the environment.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid: Avoid contact with hot surfaces. Heat. No flames, no sparks. Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizers.

Disposal considerations

Regional legislation (waste) : Disposal must be done according to official regulations.

Waste treatment methods : Burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber but exert extra care in igniting as this material is highly flammable. Offer surplus and non-recyclable solutions to a licensed disposal company.

Product/Packaging disposal recommendations : Dispose of contaminated packaging as unused product.

Additional information : Flammable vapours may accumulate in the container.
