Description of key information

2-[(1-methylpropyl)amino]ethanol was considered hydrolytically stable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The hydrolysis as a function of pH of 2-[(1-methylpropyl)amino]ethanol was determined in a test performed according to OECD 111 and GLP requirements (Xiaoqian, 2011). During the preliminary test performed at 50°C for 5 days, the substance has been found to be hydrolytically stable at all the tested pH. Indeed, the results showed that the hydrolysis percentages of samples were 0.35%, 9.08% and 5.23% respectively in buffers solution of pH 4.0, 7.0 and 9.0. Since less than 10% of the reaction was observed after 5 days, 2-[(1-methylpropyl)amino]ethanol was considered hydrolytically stable. Therefore, no advanced test was required.
