Biodegradation

Biodegradation in water

Biodegradation in water ability was predicted(SSS QSAR Prediction model, 2016) for the test compound 3 -(1H-benzimidazol-2 -yl)-7 -(diethylamino)-2 -benzopyrone (CAS no. 27425 -55 -4) using the SSS QSAR prediction model. The inherent biodegradability of the test substance

3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone was estimated as 84.56% by using DOC removal parameter. This result indicates that 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone was estimated to be readily biodegradable in water.

Biodegradation in water and sediment

Estimation Programs Interface (EPI) Suite (2016) prediction model was run to predict the half-life in water and sediment for the test compound3-(1H-Benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone(CAS no. 27425-55-4). Half life period of 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone is estimated to be 37.5 days (900 hrs.) while in sediment it is 337.5 days (8100 hrs). Based on these half life values of 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone, it is concluded that the chemical is not persistent in water and persistent in sediment.

Biodegradation in soil

Based on EPI prediction Level III Fugacity Model (EPI suite, 2016), the estimated half life period of 3 -(1H-benzimidazol-2 -yl)-7 -(diethylamino)-2- benzopyrone(CAS no. 27425-55-4)in soil was obtained to be 75 days (1800 hrs). Based on this half life value of 3 -(1H-benzimidazol-2 -yl)-7 -(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone, it is concluded that the chemical is not persistent in the soil environment.

Adsorption / desorption:

Various predicted data for the target chemical 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone (Cas no. 27425-55-4) and read across chemical N,N-diethylaniline(Cas no. 91-66-7) were reviewed to summarize the following information:

Predicted sources i.e EPI Suite and Chemspider,Scifinder (Advanced Chemistry Development (ACD/Labs) Software V11.02) database indicate that the test substance 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone has a strong sorption to soil and sediment and therefore have negligible migration potential to groundwater.

With following Koc values:

EPI SUITE - 13000 (Log Koc=4.1139)

Scifinder (Advanced Chemistry Development (ACD/Labs) Software V11.02) - Koc= 5590 (log Koc= 3.7474) at pH 6, Koc= 6100 (log Koc= 3.7853) at pH 7

Chemspider - 7559.93 (log Koc =3.8785)

Other experimental study for read across N,N-diethylaniline (Cas no. 91-66-7) indicate that the The adsorption coefficient Koc in soil and in sewage sludge N,N-diethylaniline (CAS No. 91-66-7) was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 121 for testing of Chemicals. The reference substances were chosen according to structural similarity with the test substance and calibration graph was prepared. The Log Koc value was found to be 3.594 ± 0.003at 25°C

Thus overall all results indicate that the test substance 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-7-(diethylamino)-2-benzopyrone (Cas no. 27425-55-4) have tendency strong sorption to soil and sediment and therefore have negligible migration potential to groundwater.
