Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

According “ANNEX VII - STANDARD INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBSTANCES MANUFACTURED OR IMPORTED IN QUANTITIES OF ONE TONNE OR MORE” the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, on the basis of the chemical structure.
Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate has not of oxidation reduction potential. Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate do not contain a substance capable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, on the basis of the chemical structure.
EU Test method A17 for determination of oxidising properties states that the test need not be performed when examination of the structural formula established beyond reasonable doubt that the substance is in capable of reacting exothermically with a combustible material.
Therefore testing for oxidizing properties and for oxidation reduction potential does not need to be performed.

Oxidizing Properties

Justification For data Waiving (ECHA TGD ref 7.1.13)

From the compositional description and the structural formula given, it can be concluded that this substance CAS25155-30-0,(EINECS) 246-680-4 does not exhibit oxidizing properties (will not cause or contribute to the combustion of other materials by virtue of its own inherent oxidation or reduction potential). There are no functional groups or other structural alerts present that would indicate that this substance would promote oxidation and thus should not be classified as dangerous according to the criteria for evaluating oxidizing properties. Furthermore, this is confirmed by long term handling experience.
