Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No additional testing is required for explosive properties, based on chemical structure and low decomposition energy.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

According to the screening procedure described in CLP, one structural alert (1,2-diene) was identified in the chemical structure of the substance, therefore the Oxygen Balance was calculated. The result of OB=-286 is sufficient for purpose.

Moreover, a DTA analysis was available as reliable supporting study, with a maximum decomposition energy observed of 306 J/g at 280°C.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Explosive properties

The substance meets the exemption criteria (OB <-200, exothermal decomposition <500 J/g). The acceptance procedure does not apply.

Self-reactive properties

The decomposition energy slightly exceed the exemption criteria (<300 J/g). Further testing should be performed. However, considering the result is borderline to the threshold, no major hazard is anticipated.
