Melting and Boiling Point

In the temperature range between 370 – 500 °C an endothermic effect was detected, which cannot be allocated to the melting of the test item, but to the decomposition of the test item.

In both DSC measurements amass loss after the complete run in the temperature range from room temperature to 500°C of approximately 56 % was observed, which suggests a decompositionunder liberation of a gaseous compound.

In the BÜCHI measurement the test item has no melting and no boiling point at atmospheric pressure up to 410 °C. At 249 °C the decomposition of the test item started. In the upper (colder) part of the capillary, condensed droplets appeared at a temperature of approximately 300 °C, which can partly explain the mass loss in the DSC measurements.
