The results of the dynamic viscosity measurements are explained as a function of the shear rate. The mobile SC4-21 was chosen (for viscosity situated between 2.4 and 46865 mPa.s).

The viscosity of the REACh substance (2-Hydroxy-3-sulphopropyl) dimethyl[3-[(1-oxododecyl) amino]propyl]ammonium hydroxide (EC 242-893-1) in aqueous commercial product) was investigated in a GLP-compliant study (Grevin, 2012) performed in accordance with OECD Guideline 114 (Viscosity of Liquids). The mean dynamic viscosity of the test item at 20.0 ± 0.2 °C was 28.65 ± 0.81 mPa.s. The mean dynamic viscosity of the test item at 40.0 ± 0.2 °C was 17.54 ± 0.22 mPa.s. Taking into account the results obtained at 20.0 and 40.0 °C, the test item was considered to have Newtonian properties in the experimental conditions used. The study was performed on a commercial product (aqueous solution) as the substance EC 242-893-1 is manufactured and used in a liquid form.
