Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates data are available with the registered substance. However data are available with the structurally analogous substance trichloro(ethyl)silane (CAS 115-21-9).

A 21-day NOEC value of ≥100 mg/L has been determined for the effects of the test substance on survival and reproduction of Daphnia magna when expressed in terms of nominal concentrations. When expressed in terms of mean measured TOC concentration in the test medium the NOEC was ≥10 mg/L. It is likely that the test organisms were primarily exposed to the hydrolysis products of the substance. The read-across is considered valid because triacetoxyethylsilane and trichloro(ethyl)silane substances hydrolyse very rapidly in water to give ethylsilanetriol. The other hydrolysis products are acetic acid and hydrochloric acid respectively; the properties of these substances are well characterised. The effects of acetic acid and hydrochloric acid on aquatic organisms are limited to those that result from changes to pH in unbuffered media.
