Before the test the appearance of test item was dark purple powder; after the experiments, the test item melted, blackened and its volume increased in the crucible.

Executive summary:

The thermal behaviour of the test substance was investigated by Differential Scanning Calorimetry method, according to the OECD guideline 102 and 113.

A small amount of test item was weighed into a one-way 40 µl aluminum crucible and sealed with closed aluminum lid using a capsule presser. Thus, prepared capsule was inserted into the furnace of the DSC device and heated from 25 to 500 °C with 10 °C/minutes heating rate. As reference sample an empty crucible of the same type was used. The heat flow and any thermal events were recorded, as well as the onset and the related energy.

The measurement was performed under nitrogen atmosphere. Before and after the test, the weight and the appearance of the sample were determined.

The experiment was performed in duplicate.

Using a linear heating rate, the melting point was determined to be in the range of 145.5 – 150.4 °C (418.7 – 423.5 K). Based on the results of the DSC curves and the appearance of test item after the tests, it is concluded the test item starts to decompose at ca 199 °C.
