In the Bowes Cameron Cage Test according to UN-MTC N.4 a positive result was obtained using a 25 mm cube sample at 140 °C. The test item has to be classified as self-heating substance Cat. I according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP).

The substance melted in the preliminary screening test according to EU Method A.10 and did not propagate combustion.

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on self-heating properties meet the criteria for classification as a self-heating substance Category 1 according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008: A positive result was obtained using a 25 mm cube sample at 140 °C in a UN Test N.4.

The available data on flammability on iginition, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and therefore are conclusive but not sufficient for classification: The substance melted and did not propagate combustion in a preliminary screening test according EU Method A.10. Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.
