Additional information

Skin irritation/corrosion

Tris (ethyl acetoacetato-O1’,O3) aluminium was tested for its skin irritation potential with an in vitro test according to OECD TG 439 Reconstructed human epidermis model. The relative mean viability of the test item treated tissues was 96 % after 15 minutes exposure period and 42 hours of post-exposure incubation period. No classification for skin irritation of Tris (ethyl acetoacetato-O1’,O3) aluminium is required according to the CLP Regulation (EC.n.1272/2008).

Eye irritation

Tris (ethyl acetoacetato-O1’,O3) aluminium was tested for its eye irritation potential with an in vitro test according to OECD TG 492 Reconstructed human Cornea-like Epithelium (RhCE) test method. After 6h exposure followed by product washing and a post incubation of 18h a residual cell viability (mean of two replicates) of 29.9 % has been quantified for test item. Considering the results of in vitro tests for skin and eye irritation, the structure of the molecule and its pH in water (6.2), Tris (ethyl acetoacetato-O1’,O3) aluminium is classified H319 (eye irritant category 2) according to the CLP Regulation (EC.n.1272/2008).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Tris (ethyl acetoacetato-O1’,O3) aluminium is not classified as skin irritant but it is classified H319 (eye irritant category 2) according to the CLP Regulation (EC.n.1272/2008). For justification see the results of available studies.
