Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Experimental Starting Date: 21 May 2012, Experimental Completion Date: 23 May 2012
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Study conducted to GLP and in compliance with agreed protocols, with no or minor deviations from standard test guidelines and/or minor methodological deficiencies, which do not effect the quality of the relevant results.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 92 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The test item does not have a self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.

Results

The test item was a yellow crystalline solid. Whilst heating the test item,no relevant exothermic reaction of the sample was observed. The temperature curve is included in attached background material. On completion of the test, the cube was empty.

Discussion

The test item has been determined to have a melting temperature range of 76 to 92°C. Therefore, as the oven temperature was increased to 100 °C and no self-heating was observed during the test, the test item does not have a self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.

Conclusions:
The test item has been determined not to have a relative self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.
Executive summary:

Method

Testing was conducted using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A16 Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Conclusion

The test item has been determined not to have a relative self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.

Description of key information

The test item has been determined not to have a relative self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature (77 to 92°C)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information
