Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

As no one study was robust enough to be considered as key on its own, a weight of evidence approach was used. The values obtained were as follows:

Melting point/freezing point.001: < -20 ºC

Melting point/freezing point.002: -25 ºC

Melting point/freezing point.003: -21 ºC

The pressure was not reported for any of the references.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

All of the study records for this end point are from product data sheets with no methodological information. As such, all were assigned a Klimisch rating of 4, and therefore none could be considered robust enough to be a key study. A weight of evidence approach using three sources of information was adopted.

None of the melting point values have the pressure reported at which the studies were conducted. As such it is difficult to consider any of the values to be the key value.

According to column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, a melting point study does not need to be conducted below -20 ºC. In view of this, it is acceptable to state that the melting point for the substance is < -20 ºC.
