Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Fe < 1 µg/L at 1 g iron manganese trioxide/L and Fe = 1 µg/L at 10 g iron manganese trioxide/L

Mn 186 µg/l at 1 g iron manganese trioxide/L, Mn 648 µg/L at 10 g iron manganese trioxide/L

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): insoluble (< 0.1 mg/L) concerning Fe
Iron insoluble (< 0.1 mg/L)
Mn slightly soluble (< 1 mg/L)
Executive summary:

The determination was performed according to OECD Guideline 105 at pH 8.

For the determination six test mixtures with two different loading concentrations (1 g/l and 10 g/l) were agitated with a magnetic stirrer for 24 hours at 20 °C. The received suspensions were filtrated through a

0.1 μm (100 nm) membrane filter. Also three blank solutions (standard water pH 8 to ISO 6341, OECD-Guidance-Document 29) were investigated.

After filtration of all mixtures and blank solutions iron- and manganese determination was performed in each filtrate with Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GFAAS).

The water solubility was very low with:

Fe < 1 µg/L at 1 g iron manganese trioxide/L and Fe = 1 µg/L at 10 g iron manganese trioxide/L

Mn 186 µg/L at 1 g iron manganese trioxide/L, Mn 648 µg/L at 10 g iron manganese trioxide/L

Description of key information

The water solubility of iron manganese trioxide at 20°C was determined to be </= 1 µg/L concerning Fe.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
