If inhaled : Remove to fresh air.

If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact : Wash off with soap and water.

If skin irritation occurs, seek medical advice/attention.

In case of eye contact : Rinse with plenty of water.

If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

If swallowed : Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water.

Obtain medical attention.

4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms : No information available.

Risks : No information available.

4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment : No information available.

Fire-fighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media : Dry sodium chloride, Special powder against metal fire, dry sand

Unsuitable extinguishing media : Water, Carbon dioxide (CO2)

5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards during firefighting:

Carbon monoxide

Carbon Dioxide - Gas is heavier than air. Act as an asphyxiant at

high concentrations.

5.3 Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for

firefighters

: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information : None known.

Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions : Remove all sources of ignition.

Avoid formation and deposition of dust.

Use personal protective equipment.

6.2 Environmental precautions

Environmental precautions : No special environmental precautions required.

6.3 Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up : Use mechanical handling equipment.

Avoid dust formation.

Fill into labelled, sealable containers.

Handling and storage

7.1 Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling : Avoid dust formation. Ensure adequate ventilation and, if necessary, exhaust ventilation when handling or transferring the product. Ensure that the occupational exposure limit value/s (OEL) and/or other limit values are complied with.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges. During processing, dust may form explosive mixture in air.

Hygiene measures : Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Keep working clothes separately.

Dust explosion class : St1

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers: No special requirements required.

Further information on storage conditions: Store in tightly closed containers in a dry place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Prevent formation of dust. Where required to control exposure, provide local exhaust ventilation.

It is known that high temperature processes including production and welding of chromium and chromium-containing composites can lead to generation of fumes containing chromium(VI). Although the precise identity of the chromium(VI) substances present has not been identified, it is important to recognize that several substances containing chromium(VI) have been classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction and dangerous for the environment. It is therefore essential that workplaces and releases to the environment associated with these activities are monitored to ensure compliance with national and/or Community legislative limits.

Regarding this issue, the users are referred to follow recommendations presented in the paper 'REACH and the Welding of Metals and Alloys', published by Eurometaux, Eurofer and European Welding Association (May 2010).

Personal protection

General protective and hygienic measures: Practice good hygiene. Keep away from food and drink.

Skin and body protection: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Use anti-static safety shoes and protective suit.

Respiratory protection: Adequate protection measures must be used to maintain exposure levels below stated

limits. Respiratory protective device with particle filter EN 143.

Protection of hands: Gloves should be worn when handling this material because of the risk of contact with

sharp particles

Eye protection: Wear suitable eye protection (e.g. safety glasses) during handling in which dust is formed.

Risk management measures: Where practical exposure levels should be controlled using extraction systems. It may be necessary to undertake a programme of exposure monitoring.

Environmental exposure control

Although no special environmental precautions requried, do not wash spilled materials into drainage system, material may block drains.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided: Stable under normal conditions. No decomposition if used according to specifications.

Dangerous reactions : Reacts with oxidizing agents.

Fumes containing hexavalent chromium may be formed during high temperature processes (production and

welding). Regarding this issue, the users are referred to the paper 'REACH and the Welding of Metals and

Alloys', published by Eurometaux, Eurofer and European Welding Association (May 2010).

Disposal considerations

Disposal of waste should be undertaken by a licensed contractor in accordance with appropriate national and

local regulations.
